ABASIAMA'S NOVEMBER (2009) REPORT FROM CAMEROON

Seasons' Greetings I bring to you by this report. I have great news to share with all of you in Ellabell and in other places in the US. You have been very special to us as we co-operate to serve God through the West African mission work.

Evangelism in Limbe
The month under review was as exceedingly busy time in this work. Evangelistic activities that have brought a great population into the body of Christ were equally wonderful. During the month the Lord blessed my work with four souls who have been baptized and added to the fold in Mile One. All of these were touched  by the sermons they heard during our worship and could not resist the conviction of the Spirit of grace. They all willingly and genuinely came out and stood in front of the congregation as the word we preached invited them to consider living the rest of their lives for Jesus. Those baptized were two ladies and two men. We have these brothers:  Adolf Anoma and Desmond Osong added to our number. Also newly converted sisters: Benedicta and Celina are now Christians in the church at Mile One.  Their pictures are all attached with this report.

A few comments about our new converts:

Brother Desmond is the son of Sister Judith who was baptized in October. So mother and son are now sister and brother respectively in the Lord. Desmond is 24.  Brother Adolf Anoma was a victim of injustice by a friend who framed him up and the case was charged to court. With our lopsided justice system here where justice can be bought and sold, somebody can set you up and you end up being in prison for sometime awaiting a trial that will never take place. This is what happened to brother Adolf : somebody reported him to the police alleging some criminal offenses supposedly committed by him (Adolf). He was then arrested and remanded in prison with the claim of awaiting trial. The person who made this false report had a plan of having him tortured in prison until the case will die a natural death for want of prosecution. So, Brother Adolf the defendant kept on appearing in court for hearing but the complainant never showed up for a period of 8 months after which the case was struck out unconditionally because of the persistent absence of the person who reported him. Our brother has now been set free but after 8 months of suffering in custody without trial. A few days after his release, brother Edward Ndenge( himself baptized a couple of months ago) invited Adolf to the church service. After my preaching the young amn bowed to Christ. Please remember Adolf in your prayers as he begins his life of freedom in Christ.

Sister Benedicta had been attending worship but as a non-member until in November when she wanted a proof from the scriptures that baptism, and that by immersion, is a requirement for God to forgive her sins. I was surprised that Sunday morning  when she got up to ask her question regarding baptism. But I felt somewhat embarrassed when she unknowing addressed me as Reverend. I politely answered her inquiries even as I courteously repudiated myself from any title of Reverend and its attendant corruption of church leadership. She could no longer postpone her salvation as she was baptized the same day as Adolf and Desmond.

Celina was baptized on a different day. She is a courageous lady who made a great decision to follow Christ. She has since been active in the worship and study of God's word.

The Ekona Lectureship

Apart from the above mentioned baptism indigenous to Limbe, I'm glad to relate to you the baptism of three other people, a lady and two young men at the Ekona Annual lectureship of the Churches of Christ in Cameroon. From the 26th through 29th of November I was in Ekona for the Annual Gospel Meeting at the end of which 14 people were added to the Ekona Church of Christ. I led our group on the evangelism outings that marked the program. 3 out of the 14 new converts were baptized through our group. The baptism pictures of brother Zerubabel, brother Derick and Sister Belinda will be available in a few days time. The video of the program that with highlights of my participation will be sent to Dr. Holloway hopefully in January. You will enjoy the video. I was privileged to deliver the sermon to over 700 people who attended the program during the Sunday worship that marked the end of the lectureship. You will also watch a video clip of the preaching.

Sister Elizabeth and the Orphans

The mother and the children are well and happy. I have handed to Elizabeth the support you have sent. I have also explained to her and the children what they are expected to used the addition money for. The video interview I had with all of them will be sent along with the lectureship video when they are ready. I am honored to convey their appreciation to all of you for your indescribable gifts. They have also asked that I send on their behalf a warm greeting of Merry Christmas and wondrous New Year. They say "Thank you beyond measure".

My travel Plans

I plan to go to Nigeria to bring back sister Lami and my son Providence to Limbe. I'm missing them so much just as they are missing me and the church in Mile One. Please pray that the journey which is expected to happen in the 2nd week of December should be problem-free and divinely guided.

Our Appreciation

I am pleased to say a special "thank you"  to everyone of you whose support has kept us through thus far. It is impossible to exhaustively describe what you money has accomplish in this work.  To say you have been very special to us is an understatement. See what the Lord has used you to do in the vineyard in November. I know you are proud of this accomplishments as you ought to be.  My passionate prayer to God for all of you, dear donors, is that God will grant you a wonderful celebration of peace, joy and happiness this Christmas holiday and a happy New year ahead.  Until then, never forget we love you so much in the Lord.

ABASIAMA'S OCTOBER (2009) REPORT FROM CAMEROON

Greetings to everyone who reads the following report from Limbe, Cameroon.  I regret the lateness of the report even as I wish it never happens again. The gospel of the amazing grace of God is continually opening the eyes of the blind who were once lost but now are found.  Despite all the odds experienced during the month, the Lord has astonishingly added to the fold "such as should be saved".

Evangelism

It is exciting to share with you the news of the great things the Lord has done through our collective efforts at world evangelism. Thanks to all of you whose contributions have added up to create the positive results we have been celebrating in October. As usual, we enjoyed laboring to preach the gospel to the members of the community as we met with the in comfort of their home and by means of the radio. Yesterday was our midweek Bible study and one of the radio listeners named Mosi Emmanuel was in attendance. Last Sunday, 11/8/09, one Michael of the Catholic denomination visited the church. But above all, we are celebrating the home-coming to the Lord of Sister Judith who has been baptized into Christ. The picture is herein attached.

There is something about our most recent new convert, Sister Judith that I feel compelled to share with you.  This wonderful lady has gone through a series of tragedies in life before she came to the Savior through our preaching. A few years ago she lost her father and mother through a fire accident in Buea. The story of the tragic death of both parents was even broadcast in the media.  It all happened when a mysterious fire broke out and engulfed the whole house where Judith's parents were sleeping around 12.00 am. Unfortunately they could not escape as both of them were reduced to ashes.  Judith who was living with her husband some distance away from her parents’ residence, only had to come to pick up the bones and other remains of the cremated bodies.  To make matters worse in terms of emotional trauma experienced by sister Judith ( formerly was a Presbyterian church member), at the funeral of bones and scanty remains of body parts, en elder of the Presbyterian church openly said Judith's parents were his enemies and so could not officiate the burial.  Sister Judith had been tormented by the statement until she met Christ through the Church of Christ. Please pray for this new Christian.

MY FAMILY

The month was made difficult by certain occurrences that brought sorrow to our lives. One such event is the sudden death of my mother-in-law. Since then, we have been seriously affected.  Thank God will on the road to recovery from the tremendous shock the gripped everyone who knew and loved her. Sister Lami and our son Providence have travelled to Nigeria 10 days ago. I'm with our daughter Nsikanima alone, hoping to go and bring back Lami and Providence in December.

Elizabeth and Orphans

It is always a pleasure to report the progress of Sister Elizabeth and the orphans.  She is okay in health and with the kids. As suggested by the picture herein attached, I have given her the October support you provided for them. The industrious widow sends her words of note of gratitude to you for your financial assistance to take care of the eight orphans in her custody. She says without your support, her suffering would have been most grievous. But as it is, appreciates your sharing of her burdens. "A BIG THANK YOU" is what she will never stop saying to you all.

A Visit From America

" Out of sight is not out of mind and I have always been thinking of and praying for you in Cameroon, especially you  in Mile One congregation" said the former minister of the Church, brother Richard Inyang who squeezed out two days from his tight itinerary to visit the church . It was a wonderful meeting with the preacher who knows Cameroon mission field as fish knows water. A member of the church recently observed that Richard is the Moses and Abasiama is the Joshua as far as the exodus of the Mile One Church toward the promised land of having a meeting place, an eldership and becoming a self-propagating congregation is concerned. Bro. Richard we all appreciate your visit and we hope you will convey our greetings just as you may relate to the brethren over there your assessment of the progress of the work in Limbe and other parts of Cameroon that you visited.

My Appreciation Letter

Dear donors

I just had to tell you again how much difference your financial commitment makes in this work. Thank you for your generosity. Please let me express my appreciation for your gifts in support of the work of preaching the gospel of Christ in Limbe, and Cameroon in general. Your personal commitment this time, as always, was incredibly helpful and allowed us to reach our goal. Your assistance means so much to me but even more to the Cameroon's mission field of the Great Commission. Thank you from all of us.

Sincerely,

Abasiama John Archibong

Providence and Nsikanema

Another Photo from Cameroon I asked for. Notice below that Abasiama is holding the church bulletin of the Ellabell Church of Christ. I wonder if you could take part in this fun challenge.
